About two weeks ago Oliver and I had a Daddy and Monkey day.
I decided to take Oliver to the train museum in Sacramento. Oliver, like most
other kids his age, absolutely loves trains. I hadn’t been there for years,
probably since I was in elementary school, but I remember it being fun and
Oliver would have fun.
When Oliver woke up we headed over to Denica’s for
breakfast. I had a breakfast burrito (awesome value for breakfast…6.99 for a
solid burrito) and Oliver did some eggs and bacon. Then we hit the road.
About an hour and 20 minutes later we rolled into old town
Sacramento, parked and headed to the museum. Oliver had fun climbing in and out
of train cars and engines. The had a section with about a dozen Chuggington and
Thomas tables full of trains that he probably could have played with all day
given the chance.

After we saw everything the museum had to offer. We headed
into Old Town for some lunch and fresh mini donuts. After our stomachs were
full we headed home. It was a good day.
It’s amazing how fast
they grow. It seems like yesterday I could hold him like a football, and now he’s
a walking, talking person. I feel like I was somewhat absent for about 8 months
last year dealing with the ‘pain in my a**’, so it’s wonderful to be feeling
good, spending time with Oliver, and making up for lost time.
The train museum did end up making an impression. Lindsey told me the other day he got his Thomas trains out and lined them all up. Lindsey asked him why he lived them up. He looked at her and said, “It a train museum mommy.”
